Dreaming

Dreaming

Once upon a time I had a amazing dream. I had a dream, It was the the beginning of summer, and I woke up to be 6’5”. I was only a freshman and was trying out for the varsity basketball team. I had big hopes, because I was obviously 6’5”. I went out there first practice and posterized two people. I could also break peoples ankles by crossing them up, with my steller right hand crossover.
I had some height advantage but I could knock down three’s. My nickname was the machine and I couldn’t be stopped. I made the varsity team and had about 7 minutes per game. I think I still deserved to start because I was a 6 foot 5 inch baller. Our first game we played the Riverside Bulldogs, they were pretty good had a winning record of 2-1.
But we were 3-0 and had a great chance of winning. Before the game in warm ups we did layups, I would do a layup every time but my hand was already in the hoop. Then we start backing up for jump shots. I started shooting three’s along with my good buddy Kyle. He was a great three point shooter and averaged about 4 a game.
There was about 5 minutes left until tip off and I could tell I was nervous. My hands were shaking, and I had this sick feeling in my gut. Then the buzzer rang, it was tip off. Caden who was a 6’11” center was tipping off, he had an easy chance because the guy he was tipping off against was only 6’5”. Caden got the tip off and Kobe drove up the court.
He came up to the top off the key, and I splashed a three. Later on in the half we were getting beat 21 to 17, and needed someone to get us the lead before half time. Lebron drove up the court passed it to the right, and Caden went in for a two handed wind-mill dunk. We were only down by four points, and Michael our 5’10” shooting guard got hurt. So coach called my number and said,
“Go in for him.”
“Ok,” I said.
I went in with a jerk in my stomach.
“Here we go, I guess.”
We got the ball, and I was lining up on the right by the three point line. Lebron passed me the ball, and I went in for a 360 dunk. We were only getting beat now by two in the 3rd quarter. The score was 31 to 29; then I got the ball and drained a three from the corner.
It was 32 to 31; our lead with two minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Michael finally came back in, but I stayed in at the other shooting guard spot. Because right now I have 12 points, three rebounds, and two steals. They had the ball, and Michael came up with a steal and alley ooped it to Lebron. We were winning 34 to 31, with the buzzer ending the 3rd quarter.
It was the other teams possession and the point guard drove up the court. He called this play called double wing, and I had no clue what they were doing. They started running circles around the top of the key. This kid snuck away from the group and was wide open in the corner for three. It was now 34 to 34, tie ball game.
I got the ball and drove up the court to the top of the key. I started to hesitate a little, but then I crossed up this kid up. I called Caden for a ball screen, and I rolled right then pulled up drank. It was now 37 to 34, with only 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter. They started driving up the court really fast.
He passed it to the guy to the left, and he drove to the lane and got destroyed by Caden. Caden got the rebound and passed it to me, I drove up the court and swinged it to Lebron for the dunk. We had a good five point lead and went on to winning the game 40 to 34. I had 15 points, five rebounds, and two steals. I went to the locker to wash up, and coach came in and said.
“ Heck of a game son.”
“Thanks,” I said.
Later on when I got in the shower everything started to go away. I started to shrink back to my old height 5’1.”
I started yelling, “No, No this can’t be.”
Everything went back to normal I opened my eyes, it was all a dream.
“Crap,” I said.
I can’t believe this was just all a dream, I thought. I walked outside and started shooting hoops. At least I still have my ball handling skills. I started splashing every shot I took, so I raised the hoop up to 10 feet.
I looked at hoop for a while then, I started dribbling to the hoop. I looked up at the rim and jumped. I never jump so high in my life, I was almost to the rim then, boom I dunked it. My hand was still hanging on the rim when, I felt the touch of someones hand on my leg. It was the coach for Duke.
“Congratulations son you earned a scholarship, to play for Duke.”
“I don’t understand sir, this is my first time dunking in my life.”
“Thats ok son, you are good and I think you will do great things.”
“Thank you sir.”

Jordan went on later that year to play for Duke, and got MVP every year. He set the record for having the most points recorded at A-H-S-T, he had 3,069 points. One last record, he set the record for the shortest dunker.

Elite Team

Elite team

Once upon a time there was a kid named Max Baker, he loved the sport of basketball. Max is in eighth grade, he is about 5 foot and is 95 pounds. He noticed at school that there was a tryout sheet for the travel basketball team. Max had been working on his jump shot all summer, at the park courts.
“Max thought that he probably has a good shot at making the travel team.”
There were a lot of other really good players in his grade, who are faster and bigger, but Max has this spin move that he can beat them on every time. Max is also a three point specialist he can shot perimeter shots and corner shots. He made the game winning three last year to win the semi final game vs the bobcats. But this week was tryout week, so Max had to focus on his game.
It was the next week and it was time for the tryouts. When he first got there he was the only one there. He wondered if today was the day for the tryouts. But on his sheet it said 3:00 sharp on wednesday, so this had to be it he wondered. Anyways he grabbed a ball and started shooting.
“Today he thought”
“Today is the day that show these guys what I’m made of.” He started off with some easy layups, then when he made them, he started backing up and shot perimeter shots. He noticed that he had been shooting really well lately, he wondered if it was just him getting better, or just luck. But he was going to go with it. Max looked at the clock it read 3:10, they have to be coming soon. Then, finally his coach walked in, “ Practice doesn’t start for a hour and a half.” You are a little early son.”
“ No sir, I thought it read 3:00 sharp,” said Max.
“ Nope,” said Coach.
“ Ok I’m going to just stay here, and practice for a bit if you don’t mind.” Max said.
“ Ok, that’s fine with me.” said Coach.
Finally after a thousand shots, Max thought, finally, It was time for practice. There was at least twenty boys, or so that showed up. There was big kids, and smaller kids around Max’s size. Max still thought that he had a good shot of making the team. Finally, after ten minutes of shooting around, it was go time.
Max got split up in a group with kids, that were more of his skill type. They started of with a quick game of knock out. Whoever was the top three people to win out of the four groups, got to pick their teams. Max was feeling really confident about this, he started off 3rd in line. Max ended up getting 4th in the game.
Max was put on a team with some okay players. Not as good as players as he thought he would get, but he was ok with it. Max’s team played first, his team was the Spurs. He had to play the Heat first. Max seen that there was some really good kids on that team and that he needed to play really good, to impress the coaches.
It was the opening tip off, the heat got the tip and went down and drained a three pointer, right away. Max got the ball from inbounds, he moved the ball up the court and saw Josh in the corner. He passed it to him.
Max said, “ Oh no, don’t shoot that,” but he did anyway and drained it.
“ No that’s how we play.” said Josh.
It was ten to 11, the Heat were winning. It was Spurs ball, Max caught the inbounds play and drove coast to coast up the courts. There was three minutes left in the 2nd half, Max had to do something, he passed to the right and went to the left. Then the guy went to the top of the key, and caught the ball. Then he beamed it back at Max in the corner, Max straightened his stance and let it fly.
All he could see was the ball going straight through the net, like a darting bullet. Max held up his three fingers and made a sign on his eyes. But he noticed the other team was catching up, so he had to run back on defense. The score was 13 to 11 and Max found his rhythm, Max was draining three’s left and right all around the perimeter. It was the 3rd quarter with only two minutes left, the score was 26 to 15.
Max had already about half of their points, dropping 13 points and four assists. It ended up being the end of the third quarter and the fourth came along. You could tell that the Heat were getting really tired, so it was time for Max to push through it and attack the paint. Max got the ball and drove up the court. He drove the lane hard and kicked it out to Josh in the corner.
He pulled up and shot it, the ball rolled around the hoop like a toilet bowl and finally went in. The score was 29 to 15, it was getting to be about the end of the fourth. When 20 seconds pulled up on the clock, Max got the ball he wanted to try this new move that he had never done before. It was the behind the back, crossover, spin move, right to the hole. He knew if he could perfect this move, the judges will automatically write his name down for the team.
I can do this he thought. Then Max got the ball from inbounds, he let the ball roll until about half court, then he picked it up. Max drove to the three point line, then did his move. He got the behind the back, crossover, then the spin move. After that his defender was clueless, and Max seen a wide open lane then attacked. Easy left hand layup for two.
The game finally came to a close, with the Spurs coming out with the win. The final score was 31 to 15 the Spurs. At the end of practice, they were going to call out the names of the 10 out of the twenty people who showed up, to be on the team.
The coach called of from his clipboard, “ Josh, Gabriel, Blake, Eli, Johnny, Doug, Mitchell.”
“ I wonder if I will get picked,” Max said.
“Wyatt, Kyle, and last but not least Max,” said Coach
“ Sorry boys better luck next year,” he said to the other player.
Max was so happy that he made the team. After that he ran all the way home from practice and yelled as loud as he could, (as he walked in the front door,) “I made the team,” said Max
So that was the story of Max Baker, making his elite tryout team.

Farming

Farming feeds our country,
Farming feeds our nation,
Just like that Case IH Nation.
I love the red; I love the blue ,
But not that ugly green goo.
Putting Anhydrous on the fields,
So that we can get good yields.
After time is passing,
And fields are sprouting,
We must spray for those nasty weeds.
We add lime to not make a crime,
So that the corn and soybeans,
Stays nice in their prime.
Most farmers must buy seeds,
My dad gets the pioneer seed.
We use the Brent carts,
By the farming heart.
I love how we put on the plow,
But not taking care of any cows.
We have 7 bins,
That we hold all of our grain in.
Better get that crop in,
Before the frost comes in.
Being a kid is so fun,
When you get to ride in the combine.
Combining is tough,
Only if you get stuck in mud,
So you better get out of there bud.
Case International Combines aren’t just the best,
They are better than the rest.
We got barns,
And old rusty cars,
Swimming pools made from old water tanks,
And also falling off them big snow banks.
Coyotes will howl,
Coons will stay on the prowl,
But not once they meet my 22.
We hunt pheasants and deer,
As long as my uncle doesn’t drink any beer.
Hunting is fun,
When the deer are on the run.
Posting and pushing,
Is a big adrenaline rush,
When you are hiding in that brush.
Those long rainy days,
When we could be out baling hay.
We feed the cows and pigs,
With them old rusty rigs.
We string up electric fence,
So the cows don’t roam the land,
But only if I had to be the right hand man.
We would chase the cows,
Like it was a Daytona 500 race.
I love them old dirt roads,
They take me to where I want to go.
Them ponds, ponds, ponds that are flooded with fawns.
Frogs, turtles, fish, and geese are one site to see.
Technology has changed farming so much,
From horses to tractors.
Horses had to pull all the plows,
From shucking to plucking,
With them big red machines.
Now in days we don't need a map,
When we got a GPS.
This is what it tells us to do,
It makes our lives a lot easier.
We used to have pigs, chickens, and even cows,
Hardly anyone has them anymore.
But at least we still have our old dog lady.
My dog barks all night long,
especially when people pull in.
She is about 9 now,
And that is Sixty-Three in dog years.
This long boring PPOW has been such an experience.
I hope you have a brilliant Christmas,
And a Happy New Year!!!

The Wolf Man

The Wolf Man

Once upon a time, there was gust of wind rolling off the tree’s. Janet Had a feeling it was going to get dark. The sun was going under the trees as the wind was going up. Behind her, the noise escalated to a loud howl. She was getting scared. She ran past the bridge, ran past the old scary white building, and then to her old dirt road.
“A 100 meters”,she said almost home, the sound was getting closer she thought she never ran so hard when a howl was right by her. “I’m doomed.” she said, even though the house was a couple hundred feet from her. “I hope I can get to the house,” she said the wolf man is coming for me. She got to the house and grabbed her 9mm glock out of the closet, and loaded the clip she stood by the door with fear. She heard a loud growl by the shed, told her dad that this man that looked like a wolf was chasing her he said, “ it’s nothing sweety”.
“Why are you carrying that glock around the house”he said you will hurt someone or yourself” he said. “I’m not going to hurt anyone.” she said, “Ok.” he said. Janet then creeped out the door the wind was blowing a light gust, Janet held the glock in front of her with a steady grip. She heard a howl coming from the back shed then she walked over to it with fear she opened the door lightly and said “anyone there” no one replied. Then she was silent growl! “Ahh” she said, she shot a bullet right at it’s chest, then she thought what is this thing and pulled the mask off it was her older brother.
“Oh my god, I just shot james” janet screamed, and ran inside she called 911. Her dad came running out to see all the commotion, and said what did you do Janet. Janet said, “I had no idea it was James I’m so sorry.” The ambulance came rushing in, and took James off to the hospital. We followed it in a 2014 chevy pick up. When we got to the hospital James was in a room full of nurses we had to wait out in the lobby.
Janet said, “ I feel so bad about this” and started crying .“I just hope he is ok” she said. Then Janet walked into the bathroom to clean up her face from the crying.“I feel so bad “she said to herself “he has got to be ok, he has got to be ok” she said. Janet went back out into the lobby they had to wait for 3 hours until they could find an answer.
Then later a lady in a white apron came out to talk to us she said her name was “Jody”, and said “your brother is going to ok”. Soon, James got out of the hospital a week later,
, and was happy to be home. James said to Janet “at least you didn’t shoot me in the head” Janet said “yah at least I didn’t I’m sorry”. Later on that week Janet was having some pretty freaky dreams about killing people and woke up screaming in the middle of the night. She yelled “Daddy” as loud as she could. He came running upstairs, “what’s wrong sweetie” he said, “are you having bad dreams”.
“Yes, I can’t take it anymore I have these bad dreams every night”, “ I know sweetie, but I can’t do anything about it” he said. Next few nights, Janet continued to have these dreams and was waking up to screaming in the middle of the night. Next week Janet, and her dreams stopped being bad and walked down her dirt road for the first time to her pond where she had fished. She caught a big 19 inches, bass and a couple of crappie a great day to fish. It was getting to be 7 P.M. so she walked back home.
So she got up and started walking to the old road. She ran past the bridge, the old white building, then the little forest. It was getting really dark so she carried a flashlight and her 9mm glock. She was getting closer to the end of the forest, then she heard a coyote howl off in the distance was getting pretty scared, and so she ran faster. Janet felt that she knew her dad would be worried about her, but she didn’t care, she was too worried about getting home.
She heard another howl, but this time it was closer “I wonder if that’s closer than the last time” Janet said. Janet ran through the end of forest and was only a couple hundreds of yards from her house. Janet soon heard a another howl and it was closer than it ever been before right by her. She turned around creature with 2 long hairy legs, long tail, with a wolf face and a long hair body. Janet screamed as loud as she could and started running for the house.
Her dad came running out of the house with an AR 15, seen she was being chased and shot at the wolf man. He missed his 30 shots, and his clip ran out of ammo. So he started running at the wolf man with his long swiss army knife. Janet was still screaming and fell in a hole. The wolf man caught up to her, and bit her in the leg.
Janet started bleeding all over the place and Janets dad caught up to the wolf man and stabbed him in the leg. He started limping away, and came back after Janet. He was only a few feet from Janet and out of the middle a bullet went straight through the beast chest. The wolf man dropped like a sack of potatoes.
It was James standing there with a Barrette 50 cal in his hands, and said. He’s dead now nothing to worry about. Janets leg was still sobbing with blood and they called 911. The ambulance came rushing in, and took Janet to the hospital. James and his dad followed them to the hospital cautiously making sure they didn’t hit any deer cause it was dark out. 10 minutes later they got to the hospital James, and his dad waited in the lobby.
The same doctor that helped James came out and said. “She is going to walk funny for the next year or two, but she will be ok. She lost a lot of blood in this accident and take a will to recover. Janet got out of the hospital a week later and never went to the pond alone ever again.

The End!!
