Dan Marino
Daniel Constantine Marino Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 15, 1961. Dan was the oldest and only boy out of three, his sisters are named Cindi and Debbie. Dan grew up in the Oakland neighborhood in Pittsburgh, where his dad was a newspaper deliverer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In the 1970’s Dan was one of the Pittsburgh Steelers biggest fans.
Dan grew up and became an All-Star quarterback at the Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. He also was a great pitcher in High School because he had a great arm, and because of that the Kansas City Royals drafted him in 1978. But Dan wanted to play football, so he returned to Pittsburgh and took the 35,000 dollar signing bonus with him.

Dan went to the University of Pittsburgh in 1979. Halfway into his freshman year he was his team’s starting quarterback. In college Dan had set many NCAA records for passing, yardage, touchdowns, completions, and career attempts. He had also won a lot of rewards, so he had graduated from the college in 1982. Hearing rumors of drug use, that were not proven, Dan’s stock fell in the 1983 draft. Dan was later signed to the Miami Dolphins where coach Don Shula selected Dan with the 27th overall selection.
With five other quarterbacks in front of him, he proved to Don that he was the best of all of them. During his rookie year he had thrown 20 touchdowns and led the Dolphins to a 12-4 record. In the Pro Bowl he was named the first quarterback to start in his rookie year.

The next season was Dan’s best with 5,084 yards with 48 touchdowns, that year Dan had made a new record for having 362 completions. During that season Dan and the Miami Dolphins went to the Super Bowl where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers 38-16. After that championship, Dan was found one of the NFL’s best passers during his 17 year career and he was named to the Pro Bowl nine times. At the end of his football career, Dan had a total of 61,361 yards, 8,358 attempts, 4,967 completions, and 420 touchdowns.

Nirvana, Starr, Road Trip

Nirvana

The definition of ‘Nirvana’ actually means the freedom of pain. Kurt Cobain decided to name the band ‘Nirvana because it was his closest definition of Grunge. He’s been dead for about 20 years now due to a suicidal incident. The way it happened was, he put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger before the cops came. Before he killed himself, Kurt Donald Cobain married Courtney Love and had a child named Frances Bean Cobain. She’s 22 years old today. If you're thinking that Kurt didn't love his family, you're wrong.
He truly did love his family very much with a passion. He even left a note before he died. In the note, there are two parts in the letter. One for his fans, and the other for his family. In the fan section, he says that he pretty much gave up because he didn’t really feel the same passion as ‘Queen’ did.
What he means by that is that he really couldn't get any excitement of performing like other rock artists did, so I suppose he felt bad. The other part of the note that was dedicated to his family, is only known by his family. Courtney Love did not share that personal information out to anyone. Kurt also had three other siblings: two brothers and one sister.
Kurt was very successful in his career. He made catchy songs, and the people loved him, but the man had a high drug addition and went to rehab several times. In my own personal opinion, I think Kurt was murdered mentally. Only because he was so depressed, and I also think he was murdered period. I could be wrong, and I could be right, The world may never know, but rumors say Courtney Love has done something similar by making Kurt overdose in the past and writing the note apparently he left in his wallet.
Starr
Starr you're so bizarre,
But dude
You can almost be
As loud as a
Car.
When you grow up
You're gonna
Evolve into a
‘Superstar’.
So bro,
You better get far,
As I hit this space bar.
Dude you’re cooler
Then Marceline’s
Axe bass Guitar.
You and the squad
Probably laughing
Like hardey
Har Har,
but I’m just sitting
Here picking
At my scar.
Here have this
Cookie jar
That’s filled
With candy bars.
You can keep it
Forever
As long as
You stay who
You are.
Road Trip
The squad rolls
With Nirvana the band.
Yeah, you know
Were all about
That ‘Teen Spirit,’ man.
We chill
At this place
Called Neverland.
With our immature
High spirited friend
Named Peter Pan.
Josie is over here
Speaking some
Language from Japan.
Oh by the way-
Did I mention we
Were in a magical
White van?
While baby Finn
Is on the roof
Screaming
“I can shake uh my can!”,
But then we crashed
Into a trash can.
Smash!
Went our Nirvana Jam.
Including all of us

And the white van.

My Superhero

My Superhero

According to the National Cancer Institute, cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue.  Destroy means to put an end to the existence of something by damaging or attacking it. Cancer destroys, but very often people destroy cancer.  Unfortunately, this isn’t one of those stories.
Luke was an eight-year-old boy with dreams sparkling in his eyes.  His smile lit up every room he walked into, until he found out the only room that he would walk into for awhile was a hospital room.  His dreams crashed right before his parents as soon as they were told that Luke was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma, but Luke didn’t care.  Actually, it meant nothing to him.  He didn’t understand his family’s tears.  He didn’t get why his parents would tell him to be strong and fight through it.  None of it made sense.  He was told cancer is a bad thing.  That it is inside of him, but it didn’t seem like a big deal to him.
Superheroes were one of Luke’s favorite things, and it wasn’t hard for anyone to figure that out.  He had superhero everything.  He sleeps in Hulk pajamas, and his favorite blanket has a Captain America shield covering it.
“Doctors are superheroes too.  They are like Hulk or Iron Man; they don’t need a cape to work miracles.  They will save me.  I promise,” Luke once whispered to his mom when he caught her crying by his hospital bed late one night.
Luke had the most positive attitude any eight year old could have that was battling cancer.  He loved all the attention, but he got sicker and sicker every day.  He couldn’t go to school anymore, and his parents had to work to pay the hospital bills, so they couldn’t always be with him. He missed playing with his friends on the playground at recess and fixing things with his older brother and sister after school.  They were almost always at some sort of practice.  He had visitors almost daily.  They brought him all kinds of things, from stuffed animals to candy.
The support effort made by the community helped the family a lot, but no matter how happy he was, the cancer was still killing him from the inside out.
Luke was told he only had a ten percent chance of living.  Luke did know what that meant.  He wouldn’t get to grow up.  By this time, he was getting so much treatment it was hurting him, so they entered him into a program in Seattle, Washington.  Once he got excepted, it was a huge deal.  Not very many people make it into this program.  They told his family he was almost guaranteed to live.  There was a 97% chance that he would survive.  He got to come home one last time before they headed off to Seattle.  Everyone was hopeful this would be it.  The little boy everyone looked up to for his fight and optimism was about to be done with suffering.  At least that was the goal.  Nobody had ever thought that it wouldn’t work.  Maybe that’s why it made it so hard to hear bad news when they got back.  It about kills you when they say it’s all over.  All the tears come back to the family that had been suffering for so long.
His 13-year-old sister once said, “When somebody in your family gets cancer, you all get it.  It’s not something you can run away from because you have to fight with him.  It’s not easy to see your younger brother in so much pain.  Sometimes I wish I could switch spots with him, so I wouldn’t have to see his tears anymore.”
Luke was the three percent that the treatment didn’t work on.  At this point, you could say that they had tried everything.  Luke couldn’t stand the pain anymore.  The little boy with the laughter that filled the room was no longer smiling, and yet he was still the happiest of all his family.  He was the one telling his parents that it would be alright.  His dad promised him that once he was done with all of his shots that he could give his dad a shot.  That’s just what he did.  They had never seen him so excited.  He thought that being done with shots was a good thing when everyone else knew it meant something else, but surely enough he gave his dad a shot.
Later that week, Luke’s family decided they didn’t want to see him suffer any longer.  They made a very tough decision to send him home.  They would stop the treatment altogether.  They brought him home on a gloomy afternoon.  The sun hadn’t shone for days.  He started to drive by the school on the way to their house.  Luke didn’t want to, but his mom talked him into it.  The entire student body and staff of his school came outside and waved to him while he was passing by.  Luke didn’t want to wave to anyone until he saw his best friend.  Luke rolled down the window and waved to him.  Then, he rolled it right back up.  For that short time he drove by the sun came out. Luke took one last smile at his best friend.
Sadly, this wasn’t a made up story.  It was based on the story of Kellen Morrison, an eight-year-old boy from Logan-Magnolia school.  I didn’t know Kellen extremely well, but I did get the privilege to meet him several times.  There is no doubt that Kellen will leave a lasting impression on you from the first time you see him smile.  You couldn’t help but laugh when he did.  He battled cancer for months, but he unfortunately couldn’t finish.  Kellen woke up on the morning of May 6, 2015 very sick.  He could barely breathe, and his lips were turning blue.  Julie, his mom, told Kylie and Kolby to leave the room because she didn’t want his siblings to see him suffer.  Julie quickly picked up her phone in an attempt to call Kellen’s hospice nurse, but there was a problem with her phone.  As soon as she turned on her phone, music started playing.  It was the song, The Best Day of My Life.  This doesn’t seem like a big deal, but Julie doesn’t have any music on her phone, nor does she know how to play music on her phone.  It was really loud, and it wouldn’t shut off.  Kelly, Julie’s husband, set his hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t shut it off.  Just listen to the words,” Kelly whispered to her.
As soon as the song started playing, Kellen opened his eyes and shut them again.  He made his way up to heaven.  I believe it was a miracle.  The first words of the song are, “I had a dream so big and loud; I jumped so high I touched the clouds.”  Kellen will be remembered forever, but not for having cancer.  He will be remembered for being a fighter.  Kellen was my superhero, and as he once said, “Not every superhero always wears a cape.”

Ian Somerhalder - March PPOW

Ian Joseph Somerhalder was born on December 8, 1978 and raised in a small southern town, Covington, Lousiana. He is known for being a model and an American actor. His most famous role is playing Damon in The Vampire Diaries. His mother Edna, is a massage therapist and his father, Robert Somerhalder, is a building contstructor. When he was growing up he went boating, swimming, fishing, and trained horses. He was in a school drama club and performed with the local theater group. At age ten he began a modeling career with the help of his mother. He modeled for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci, Versace and Guess. Ian has icy blue eyes, sharp jaw line, and thick eyebrows.
Finally when he got to junior high, he decided to put modeling behind and focus more on sports and school; he played varsity baseball and basketball. A couple years later when the oppurtunity to model in Europe came, he grabbed it. Now, Ian doesn’t like to talk about when he modeled because he doesn’t like to be seen as just another pretty face.
When he was 17 he began studying acting in New York and, by the time he was 19, he committed himself to it, working with preeminent acting coach William Esper. In the summer of 2000, he starred in the short-lived WB series Young Americans. Ian also played in the novel,  The Rules of Attraction.
In 2004 Ian got a breakthrough role when he played Boone Carlyle in the hit TV show Lost. Besides his characters death in the 20th episode of the first season, he went back to the role of Boone for seven more episodes in 2005 to 2010; this included the series finale. Ian was the first one to be cast in a role for this series and to have their first character die. He said in a interview that he is planning to buy a house in Hawaii when filming in the first season, but couldn’t because after his character was killed off the show.
In 2005, Ian got all bulked up, adding about 20 to 30 pounds of muscle, so he would be considered for more man-leading-type roles.
In June of 2009, Ian was cast in the role of  Vampire Damon Salvatore as a series in The CW television drama The Vampie Diaries. This series premiere attracted The CW’s highest premiere ratings of any season premiere since the network began in 2006. This TV show series continues to be one of the highest rated series on its channel with Ian’s perfomance and show receiving a positive response from critics. The Vampire Diaries is about two brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, have been leading “normal” lives; hiding the fact that they’re both vampires. They come back to the Virginia town, Mystic Falls, only for both of them to fall in love with the same girl, Elena Gilbert.
Ian has won an award for Teen’s Choice Award for just his participation on the series of The Vampie Diaries. Currently on the series, they’re on the sixth season and still going. While he was working with his co-star Nina Dobrev, he formed a relationship with her until 2013 when they broke it off.
Ian isn’t just another pretty face model and actor, he actually is heavily involved with charity work was part of the cleanup after the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling disaster in April of 2010. He put effort into cleaning of oiled wildlife, and taping public service annoucements letting everyone know what they could do to help. The St. Tammany Humane Society is an organization for animal shelter and welfare; Ian also supports this. He hosted a Bash on the Bayou charity fundraiser for the Society on November 13, 2010. Ian was presented with $11,000, by The Vampire Diaries fandom from his birthday project during this event.
With his The Vampire Diaries co-stars Candince Accola and Michael Trevino, Ian supports the “It Gets Better Project.” Five years ago Ian announced via Twitter in many ways that he was creating or setting up The Ian Somerhalder Foundation. It was launched on his birthday of 2010, and he hopes that it will educate people on the importance of protecting the environment and animals.
The IS Foundation’s mission aims to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures. “The IS FOUNDATION will behave in full collaborative spirit by joining with other Non-Profit, For-Profit and governing bodies globally,” says Ian. The team plans on distributing funds and resources towards global conservation, green energy development/deployment, and educational tools. He also started creating awareness so that global deforestation can be seen as an international and global security risk. They are creating mobility by engaging and supporting of the most powerful, disrespected and overlooked population on the planet - our youth. Ian is still presently working on this project, and continues to help wildlife and animals.
Ian is now currently engaged to Nikki Reed and plans to have the wedding this year, 2015. The question is: Will Ian invite his ex, Nina? Sources say, “If it is a big wedding Ian feels that he has to ask Nina to go, but anticipates her to respectfully decline. That would be a win win.” Nikki revealed her gorgeous engagement ring and it is absolutely stunning. The ring has a flower-shaped diamond and is surrounded by many small diamonds. They say it goes along well with her personality. We wish them a great future ahead!

Story of my life

My full name is Nora Ann May Rodenborn. I have a story for you, but I know you won’t be interested. I’m going shush up and start the story. I hope you like it. I know it will be a  interesting story.
The day I was born. I was the lightest baby from my older brother Zach. My dad always would hold me twenty-four seven. He never put me down. When I was two years old. I had Cataracts in my left eye.
I had to get surgery or I would’ve lost my left eye. I had baby blue eyes before my surgery. After my surgery; my right eye is brown, and my left is green. I was very shy after my surgery, and stayed in the hospital for two weeks. I went back to the hospital because my stomach was clogged.
I wouldn't eat or drink much for a week, until I heard them saying they were going put me in a different hospital. I wore a patch after the stay at the hospital. A couple of months after my surgery. My little brother was born. He was suppose to be a girl, but he was a boy. I told my mom this “put him back.”
I already knew I dislike him when I first saw him. Garet was annoying baby. A couples of months after Garet was born. My parents got divorce after my mom got home from work. I didn’t heart feel broken when I finally understood.
I won't get to see my dad not that much. I would cry and whine for my dad to come back home. My older brother Zach was five when dad got divorce. I wouldn’t talk after my mom and dad got divorce until I was three. I had to wear an eye patch for my left eye to become more healthy, but soon it will be the first day of preschool.
When I didn't care what people called me or anything. I was in the stupid phrase.  The phrase where your mind is blank and you can't think at all. I got held back in preschool, because of my blank head. I went to kindergarten; the people were mean calling me Dora or fat.
I would cry, but then I went in to the I don’t care thing. I met my best friend Courtney Gallagher. We were the weirdest little kids ever. I saw my dad on thursday and tuesdays. I was still scared of people bullying me. I went through first then second grade.
I moved in to a okay house, but my landlord kids were mean to me. Their kids would come over and said we have to listen to them, because their dad own the house. I didn't care, but they were mean kids. It was getting close to the end of third grade. My mom told us we were going to move.
I was happy, but then sad. We look at the two houses; first house was in glenwood, but we couldn’t have pets. The second house was in Hamburg we could have pets, just not big dogs. My mom had her boyfriend Dan. My brothers and I hated him so much.
When we moved in Hamburg. Zach had like twelve friends. I was always inside and shy. I didn’t have much friends. Then Zach friend Jasper came over with his sister Haylee.
We went to her house and talk a lot. I was scared ,that I was different. I would copy everything Haylee did. I didn't know who I was yet. I had fun in hamburg and making friends.
I get jealous of people stealing my friends away from me.  It was half why through fifth grade. I was moving back to avoca. I didn't want to move back, because I loved hamburg. When we were leaving for the last time.
I cried ,because I knew I would never see haylee again. I was scared of the bullies again. When I walk through the door of avoca. My best friend Courtney hug me to death. I was happy to see her.
Things went good til seventh grade. I was nervous and after a week of the middle school life. I knew that bullies will try to make me cry. They had made me cry. I don't wanna call names.
One person I sat next to in seventh grade told me to go die once. Then kira friend was bullying me. I couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted to run far away or sleep forever. I’m like suffering on the edge.
I'm drowning, but people are breathing around me. I didn’t like what people say to me. I always thought they were right. They were always right. I’m weird, fat, ugly ,and worthless.
Those were the things I think in seventh grade. When it was summer I felt better about myself. I was in deep depression for the summer. I have no feelings at all. I didn't care about anything after all.
Summer past by fast, because before I know it. It was the beginning of 8th grade and The bullies got worse. I was way too much in depression. I didn’t care at all what they said. I just fell in depression.
I thought I would never have feelings again. I didn't want to change myself after all.
