Oblivion

Two weeks ago, time stopped. The Earth’s rotation stopped and we’re in complete darkness. The only light we had is in the buildings around big or lit up cities.  Everyone is using a lot more battery power for flashlights, but all technology is still up and running. Our clocks are still working, that is how we know it has been a few weeks since that day. On TV the reporters were calling it “The Endless Night.”

The cities in darkness are going crazy. Mostly everyone has been in touch with his or her insane side. The panic has gotten to their heads and they are doing crazy things. People are freezing their butts off because it has been a lot colder on the dark side too. People have gotten out thick jackets or winter coats to wear this summer. The average temperature has been about forty-five to fifty degrees.  They were lucky that it was summer when this happened.

On the light side it is not to cold. TV reporters are calling it “The Endless Light.” The temperature is around seventy-five to eighty degrees. The long daylight is making businesses extend hours. People are having trouble sleeping at the assumed nighttime. With the longer hours and less sleep, people are becoming exhausted. It seems bad now, but this is only the beginning.

After the first few days the temperatures started to increase. Scientist started to examine the atmosphere and other planets. Judging by their calculations all of the other planets have stopped rotating too. All of the planets are perfectly in line with each other. The planet’s revolution all stopped at a different time so they would line up. The gravity of the Sun has increased an enormous amount.  Each planet has moved toward the Sun.

The end of the world has come. We only have a few days until we hit the Sun. Everyone is in a panic. People are rushing to make the most of the time they have left. The two days we have left on this planet are going to be very short and packed with activities.

In those two days the dark and light sides will have changed.  The light side is experiencing very dry weather. It has gotten very hot because of the distance between the Sun and Earth. People are staying inside because of the extreme heat or the Sun. The use of air conditioning has gone up quickly.

The dark side has changed as well. It has gotten a lot warmer since last time. People have put away their heavy coats. There have been a few thunderstorms with lightning. The lightning has been the most natural light people have seen in a while. The crazy level has been about the same as before. The closer Earth gets to the Sun the warmer it gets. People from the dark side are trying to get as much natural light as possible. In a few days they won’t have to worry about that.

Scientists have concluded that in the next thirty-six hours our planet will be destroyed. When Earth hits the sun, our planet will be destroyed. The impact could destroy our galaxy. Scientists have been watching the planets in front of Earth. Each planet in front of us is not hitting the sun. Each planet is being thrown out of orbit. Each time a planet is thrown out of orbit it shrinks to the size of a piece of rice. Anything that was on the planet was thrown off into darkness.

NASA is still watching the sun in these final hours. They are counting down to our doom. People are staying home from work. People are staying with their families before the time is up.

The news is going crazy trying to capture a glimpse of the sun before it is too late. Some people are trying to make the best of this situation. Others have gotten too worried to even think about this being a good thing.

Many of them have made some crazy theories: the end of the world, a new opportunity, and even that there is no escape from what will happen. The way that the story is going you might think some of the same things. In the final outcome it all will end the same. Oblivion. Extinction. The End.

In the beginning that is what everyone thought. This story however, is a wicked curveball. Everything about human life will change in a big way, but this story does not end in our extinction.

In the final hour before the end, all light will have blacked out. The dark side is completely pitch black. The light side people are hiding in their basements because of the intense light. People will be in a panic. There are only a few minutes before everything will be gone. People were waiting for the end to come, but it never did.

Ten minutes later a very loud inaudible voice began to yell. Everyone on Earth could hear it. Suddenly the sun began to hallow itself out. Earth began to move towards the sun at a rapid speed. Everyone was terrified.

“Another life form,” said a voice.

“Shall we add them to our collection?” asked another.

“Yes, of coarse,” replied the voice.

Never Ending

I don’t remember where I was or how I got here. I was in a tunnel with little light. There was a rusty old cage in front of me; its lock had been broken. Suddenly, I heard a screech that sounded very close.

I stopped moving, breathing; everything just stopped. Something walked past me. It was large and black. It resembled a spider that had eaten one to many flies. I let out my breath a little louder than I’d expected.

The thing turned around. I began running the other way. I ran as fast as I could, and the thing followed close behind. I had to lose this thing. I rounded the corner, and it followed. I kept turning, and it stayed near. I had begun to tire out. If I didn’t find a way out, I’d be toast. I kept going.

I rounded the next corner tricking the thing into turning the other way. There was a red light at the end of the tunnel. I sprinted as fast as I could; it was a door. Looking at the door, I tripped over a pipe on the ground, and my foot got stuck underneath. I yelled in pain realizing I had broken my foot.

The thing heard me. It turned around and ran towards me. I twisted and turned finally getting my foot out. I crawled to the door and grabbed the handle twisting it. The door clicked and I pushed it open.

As I crawled through the opening, relief flooded over me. Then the thing grabbed my broken foot pulling me back. I resisted, kicked, and yelled. My shoe was starting to come loose and I was losing my grip. My shoe came free and I went flying through the door.

There wasn’t a floor on the other side. I plummeted into nothingness. After a few seconds, I began to lose conciseness. I felt my eyes get heavy; I didn’t even have time to scream before I blacked out.

 I woke in a small room that resembled a hospital, but this was different. The walls were round and brown. The ceiling came to a point with many ridges. It also had an old moldy smell.

A few minutes later, a girl in a white lab coat entered the room. She had a clipboard in her hand and she was checking some things off. She walked over to the bed and looked at me with a smile.

“How are you feeling?” she questioned.

“Fine,” I replied.

“I am Anna by the way. You are Katy with a y, correct?” she asked.

I nodded. We talked for a while and I told her all about what happened in the tunnels. She explained how I had dropped from the sky blacked out.

“Some of the creatures had thought you were a bird,” Anna chuckled.

Creatures? What did she mean by that. I wanted to know when I could leave, and she told me around noon tomorrow.

“Your foot is healed and you can stay at the hotel down the road for a while. See you tomorrow,” she stated and turned to leave.

I looked up to say goodbye and caught a glimpse of a tail dragging on the ground. That was weird. I decided it was nothing and went to bed.

The next day I woke up to Anna walking through the door.

“Good morning Katy! I hoped you slept well because you are coming with me so I can show you the town!” she exclaimed. “I’ll be outside if you need me,” she said leaving the room.

I got up and got dressed in the jeans and a tank top that were sitting on the chair next to me. I walked out of the door and went over to her. She did have a tail, how?

“You have a tail?” I asked.

“Don’t you love it? It took me forever to brush it out,” she wined.

I nodded and kept walking with her. As I looked around the town, I noticed all sorts of crazy people. There were frogs, pigs, and even fairies. There were more to that list, but I was taking in everything. Then I noticed something falling from the sky. I pointed to it and she looked.

I suddenly realized that it was the thing. The door hadn’t closed when I fell through; it must have come after me. Oh no!

“Lisa,” growled a voice.

I looked up from my book and everyone was staring at me.

“Yes?” I asked.

“You do know that free reading time is over, right? I’m sorry to stop you, but we must continue with class,” Mr. Mathews explained.

I put the book in my bag and listened to the lecture about daydreaming.

Amethyst’s Log

 ~January 1, 2345~

            Happy New Year! This year my goal is to keep a log of what is happening around me. I will try to write two times a month on set dates. I would write more, but I am always busy. Hopefully my life will not bore you. I’m sure I’ll find something interesting to do.

~January 10, 2345~

            I suppose that you will want to know more about me. Well, I am 14 years old and I’m in eighth grade.  I love making things, but they are not normal crafts. I usually make small robots and other inventions.  I have made my own cellphone, computer, and I made a car. It didn’t make it too far before crashing into a tree. I intend to make something that will change the world.

~February 2, 2345~

When I started school last month, I decided to take a robot programing coarse. The story goes, I was doing well answering all of the questions correctly and I made a really cool robot for the project. I showed how it worked and the teacher got mad. She started telling me that my project was beyond amazing and that I don’t need to take this class, so she removed me from it. The nerve of her! Anyway I will think about combining the two for my future career.

~February 7, 2345~

            I feel like writing in a log will help me record what will happen in my life. I would love to continue doing these types of things forever. If I were willing to I would do something along writing for my future career. My English teacher says that I would do better along a science carrier path instead. I don’t know if I want to because people think it is silly. You know, “I’m the nerd of the school.” That’s what everyone calls me. I don’t mind, but sometimes it gets to me.

~March 8, 2345~

            I couldn’t write because I lost my log! You would never guess where I found it either. My mom had it and was reading it! It’s not really a big deal, but she didn’t even tell me she had it! This made me really mad and I didn’t talk to here for about three days. After that I felt bad and told her I was sorry. She said sorry as well and all was forgiven, that was until she stole my new book I was reading. Of coarse she didn’t know any better than to ask me first.

~March 24, 2345~

Today we didn’t have school, so I decided to start making something. Don’t ask what it is though, I haven’t figured that out yet. It will probably be something simple because I have no new ideas as of now. I usually keep my ideas in a notebook, but I have not done so I a long time, so all of my ideas are old and I have finished them. Unless I think of something amazing to do, I will do something simple.

~April 9, 2345~

            I finally figured out what to do with my unused time. On the news there were scientists that announced that they were going to have a science fair at my school in May. I was thinking about making these glasses that would allow seeing “past what you can see.” It would allow you to see the chemical makeup of items or the elements in the air, I don’t completely know yet. I’ll keep you posted.  

~April 20, 2345~

            The glasses are coming along nicely. I have made the frames. They are pretty basic. The only difference is that they are wired to connect (not physically) to the Cerebrum portion of your brain. This not only allows you to see beyond what you can see, but it also allows you to feel things and hear things not even dogs can. Basically it magnifies your senses to their maximum.

~May 4, 2345~

            Today I will be testing my invention. I have been testing it on other animals such as mice and rats. They really didn’t react to it, so I guess I will have to find out myself. I have tested it many times and the rats were the same afterward, so what do I have to be afraid of?

            If you are reading this by now something has gone wrong with my test. I have managed to write this in my current state. The glasses have taken me “past what I could see.” It seems as if I have been here for days, but I know I can return home.

Daniel Middleton

Daniel Middleton was born on November 8, 1991, in England. His dad was in the army, so his family moved a lot. Since they moved so much, he did not make many long lasting friends. That made him and his brother like best friends, but wherever they went the videogames always followed.

His first gaming console was a Snez. He played Mario, Zelda, and Bomber Man the most when he was young. He made sure that any other games he got were played from beginning to end.

His parents got divorced after a while and it was very hard on him. He went from seeing his dad every day to only seeing him once a week. It wasn’t all that bad because he finally got to stay in a permanent home with his mother.

Once they stopped moving, the got to stay at a new school. He was very shy and wanted to see his dad. Eventually, he made some new lifelong friends. During school, he learned a lot about himself. He found a love for drawing, gaming, music, and he was very creative.

In college he decided to study art, but he quickly decided against that once he started the classes. He decided to pursue something more creative than art, so he settled on a music degree instead.

By this time Dan and his brother decided to start a band. He learned the guitar. He also wrote and sung the songs. His brother played the drums and his two other friends played bass and guitar. The played a lot and it helped him get over his some of his shyness.

He discovered that he wasn’t the school type. He was good at the more creative things. He could not preform well when it came to tests, even though he would study. Things were looking pretty bad for him, but then a girl named Jemma decided to help him do better. After that, they started dating and they moved into an apartment together.

After that he discovered the Pokemon trading card game. He learned the game and the strategies. The game made him feel smarter because he was very good at solving these strategies. The game also had a tournament that you could participate in. This led to him traveling around Europe and making good friends. He decided to start a YouTube channel around this game. He learned how to produce, edit, and post the videos; he loved it. This was his hobby for a long time and the popularity of this channel grew more and more.

Jemma and Dan decided to move into a bigger house. It cost more, but it was better than their last. It was very cold in the house, so they were always bundled up in blankets to stay warm. They were done with the cold so they saved up money for a vacation to the beach. At the beach, Dan proposed to Jemma and she said yes. When they got home they started to save up money for their wedding. During this time, his brother introduced him to Minecraft. Both Dan and Jemma loved it and they began to play it themselves. He decided to make another YouTube channel just for Minecraft.

A few months later, Jemma was taken to the hospital. He was terrified. Originally the doctor told him that it was appendicitis, but it turned out to be Crohn’s Disease which can fortunately be treated. She continued to get better throughout the months before their wedding. They got to go to Orlando, Florida for their honeymoon.

When they got home he decided that the job he currently had wasn’t for him. Jemma convinced him to quit and he decided to work on his YouTube channel. He loved to work for himself and people loved to watch his videos. The Minecraft channel had grown more than he thought it would.  He even hit one million subscribers. They moved again to a fairly large house and they got a puppy named Ellie. Their YouTube channels are still growing and they are enjoying every bit of it.

Stacy Hinojosa

Stacy was born on the 23^rd of March in 1983. She is a video creator from YouTube. In her videos she is a very positive person. She appreciates her fans and is very creative in how she shows this appreciation.

She shows a lot of amazing fan art on her series Dogcraft. Her YouTube channel is stacyplays. She plays a lot of Minecraft, but she also plays adventure games. She recently played a series set with iHascupquake called Diversity and Diversity Two.

She also has a video log aka a vlog channel called stacyvlogs. She usually posts special Monday videos. In these short videos she talks about things that she likes and recent interests. She also has a GoodReads YouTube channel.

Some of her other interests include writing, gaming, and producing. She also enjoys photography. Every year she goes on vacation to Utah. After Utah she moves on to Idaho and Washington.
