The Big Surprise

     The Big Surprise
It was a warm mid-July day; the sun was shining and the wind was slowly blowing. My family and I were about to go to our family cabin for the Fourth of July party that my uncle TJ was hosting. Of course, we were all excited to go because we always have a big bonfire, games of sand volleyball, swimming in the lake, and to finish the night off, we have tons and tons of fire works, and sing karaoke. Everyone has a great time! So of course, we were running out the door to get in the car.
“Wait!” My mom yelled. We all stopped.
         “What?” We said simultaneously.
“Your father and I have something to tell you, but you all have guess at least once.”
“We are getting a puppy?” Jerry asked.
“We are getting ice-cream before we go?” Vinny said hopping we would.
“I’m your favorite child, we all know it’s true, it’s not really a surprise; can we go now?” teased Bobby.
“Does it involve pink or blue?” I asked.
It was pretty obvious that she was pregnant.
Mom and dad both looked at each other with a surprised look on their face.
“Yes, Hailey, actually it does!” said Mother.
“Wait, so if it’s what I think it is we are going to have another sibling?” I said not surprised.
“Yes!” Mother said with tears in her eyes.
We all stared at her blankly. Except for little baby Rocco, he was sad that he wasn't going to momma’s little boy anymore.
“I hope its a girl, I’ve always wanted to have a sister, I don't really need anymore brothers!” I said.
“Now Hailey, whether it’s a boy or a girl, you will love them the same right?”
“Whatever make you sleep at night” I laughed.
“Okay good, now get in the van we have a party to go to!” Dad yelled.
We all ran into the van and put on our seat belts, and dad rolled down the driveway. When we got to the cabin, of course, mom and dad had to break the news to the rest of the family. Everyone was so happy for her. Everyone tried to guess what she was going to name it.
I said, “If its a boy, name it Luke; and if its a girl, name it Sabrina.”
“Hailey, those names are so original.” Mom said.
         “Ha! Whatever.” I said.
After the fireworks and karaoke were over, we went back home, and I went to sleep right away. The next morning, we woke up early because we had to go to church. After church, we ate homemade breakfast and my step mom said, “If you get all your chores done, we can go to grandpa’s pool and go swimming with your uncle TJ because dad and I have to go to the hospital so that I can get a check up!” So, of course, we all rushed to get our chores done. Our uncle TJ came and picked us up, and he drove us to the pool!
“I’ll meet you at the pool when we are finished.” Mom yelled as we were walking out the door. It seemed like a long drive to the pool, but when we got there, we jumped right in. It was about two hours later when my mom showed up. She walked slowly around the corner of the pool
She announced, “Do you all want to know what we are having?”
I ran out of the pool and jumped for joy,
         “A girl?” I yelled hopefully.
“You’re going to be disappointed.” She said.
         “Aw man!”
“I’m just kidding, we are having a girl!”
         “I’m so happy!”
“I know me too!” She said while she was crying.
I hugged her really tight.
         “Hailey, your wet!”
“I don’t care, I am just so happy!”
         Four years later…
My little sister’s name is Francesca Marie Hageman; she is four years old. She is the best sister that I could ever ask for. She is really sweet, outgoing, beautiful, and very smart! She just started school this year. She is very intelligent. She has the most creative imagination. I am so glad to have her in my life. She has brought nothing but joy in my life! She is really lucky to have me as a sister! She is such an angel at times! I love her so much.
